We’re used to seeing the usual suspects in police chase videos: Chargers, Mustangs, Camaros, Altimas, Challengers and even Audis. But we don’t see that many on Porsches and certainly not on a Cayman, so this one from Georgia is unique. Unfortunately, the chase ended in a fatal crash, which shows why running from the police is a truly selfish act.
Paris will punish people for driving fat cars.
As you might expect, the soldier had no chance of keeping up with the mid-engine sports car, which, once he was able to maneuver through traffic, left him absolutely in the dust. Some may have wondered why the officer continued to pursue even as the Porsche disappeared over the horizon.
Dashcams are not nearly as good as the human eye. The officer can be heard saying he can still clearly see the Cayman, which he believes is about to leave the highway.
Those in the know know that a fast car combined with a bad driver causes problems. Far too many people buy vehicles like a Porsche without developing the driving skills necessary to actually handle them. While cruising around town or on the highway may not expose this problem, pushing the limits while on the run from the police absolutely will.
And sure enough, with traffic getting heavier and heavier, it was only a matter of time before this driver did something stupid and broke down. This man exceeded that terrible expectation and drove his car into the back of a wrecker.
Unfortunately, the driver of the white pickup truck being loaded onto the tow truck was struck upon impact, thrown over the barrier and died. You can hear a change in the soldier’s voice once he realizes what the suspect has done.
Not surprisingly, the Porsche driver was drunk. We can’t say it enough: don’t drive under the influence. That’s just as selfish as running from the police.
